QUESTION TRANSMISSION
I would like to fit a belt drive kit on my Norton International project. The engine is a 1934 596cc Norton OHC international, and the gearbox is a standard Norton Dolls Head gearbox. Could you find a kit for this use and what will be the price shipped to France?
ANSWER
Thank you for your enquiry, oddly enough I have just been looking at engine sprockets for Internationals and we have had some of those made its an odd one because whilst it is a simple taper the same as the twins and singles it is a size in between the two, bigger than the other singles but smaller than the twin. To date we have not made the pulley to suit this taper. We could bore out one of the smaller ones but its never easy and may take a little time and add to the cost. I do have an International and shafts etc to test it on but perhaps you have the ability to do it yourself? I am sure it is something we could sort out between us. If I were to do it I would have to know the maximum and minimum center distances. The price to some extent depends on who does the work but its probably going to be about £500.00 all in with post and me sorting out the pulley taper but some of the keyway would be lost, you would have to file that back in. Otherwise next time we need some pulleys we can get some made. The problem there is we have had a batch not so long ago, it will be several months before we need more. Hope all this helps.
